Completed: 2010

In Spring of 2010, BAM Construction was awarded main contractor of a brand new project at Dalton Lane, Keighley, constructing a new 5 storey building for Leeds City College designed for vocational courses to take place there.

The benefit of this new campus was its location in the centre of Keighley, making it easy to reach by public transport, and gives access to the surrounding countryside. There was no reason why students should be late! The new complex has state of the art facilities for construction industry disciplines, health and beauty, IT, media and even air cabin crew training with a replica aircraft interior.

PMJ Masonry was awarded the natural stone aspect of this job. The build was adjacent to the railway station and active line meaning strict guidelines were in place to protect not only the public but site works too. PMJ Masonry, refurbished and added to the existing boundary walls which at the front was 200m long and at the rear 100m long.

Further to this, we built a stone ramp which allows access direct from the Platform of the Station into the College grounds. Our first experience of working along track side which proved to be valuable experience to us for the future with all its conditions and paper train!!
