Completed in 2015, the £17 million Barnsley Sixth Form will provide an inspirational learning environment for high achievers, and promote pathways from post-16 education to university and higher-level apprenticeships.

Four storeys high, the Sixth Form Centre will house a mixture of classrooms and lecture theatres on the former site of empty shops and a council library, which has been relocated. Aiming for Excellent ratings through environmental initiative BREEAM, Barnsley Sixth Form College will both feature air source heat pumps and photovoltaic cells.

PMJ Masonry were tasked with the external cladding in Spanish Limestone. The building not long after finishing construction, was shortlisted for the ‘Best Educational Project’ and the ‘Best Commercial Project over £1 million’ award at the South Yorkshire and Humberside LABC Building Excellence Awards.
