Contractor: BAM Construction
Project Value: £650,000
Architect: Redbox Architecture (building architect) and Oobe (landscape architect)
Stone Type: Sandstone
This is the first of two projects working with BAM Construction at Sunderland College.
Transforming the main campus image, the new contemporary Bede Campus building for Sports and the Visual and Performing arts has been designed to create a stunning new central focal point and external space for students and visitors to the College.
After BAM Construction were appointed the main contractor for this project, they enlisted the services of PMJ Masonry to undertake all of the eye catching natural stone work. Seen as an attraction from the main visitor car park, the entrance to the new building sits within a large stone feature wall.
Utilising 75mm Ashlar Sandstone, PMJ Masonry cladded the external façade up to a full height atrium and glass elevation which is further articulated by the main public stairs which rise through the space leading to the main performing hall.
A fantastic build that will surely produce our future sports and performing arts stars.
