Project Value: £3,100,000
Working with Eric Wright Construction, PMJ Masonry were tasked with constructing 4 Student Accommodation Buildings at Caton Court in Lancaster in both Stanton Moor Sandstone and Titan Multi Bricks.
Construction began during the summer of 2018 and started with Block C2 (a brick external facade and natural stone recessed window panels) and Block B (a fully tumbled/ashlar 9 storey northern elevation and a brick/stone recessed panels to the south, east and west elevation). As the build on these areas finished, PMJ Masonry moved to Block C1 which was a smaller (but still large!) 4 storey sandstone and brick facade and a stunning new 9 storey block, cladded in Stanton Moor only, known as Block A.
Block A became the showpiece of the entire project as it featured a specialist curved southern elevation which was a mixture of tumbled walling, curved Stanton Moor ashlar cills and ashlar cladding. All fixed traditionally using frame cramps and mortar.
This new state of the art building is now an eye-catching landmark on the skyline of Lancaster and provides the finest residential facilities for students of Lancaster University. We are extremely proud of this project and will hopefully be a future winner of both design and installation at 2020 award ceremonies.
